Learn Acoustic Guitar
Learning to play the acoustic guitar is no different from learning any new skill. You need to start with a clear idea and intention of what it is you desire and why you desire it.
An “I’d like to play the guitar to impress my friends” attitude probably isn’t going to motivate you to put in the hours of practice needed to become a proficient guitar player.
So imagine what playing the guitar well will mean to you. Will it give you more confidence, make you feel better about yourself, give you pleasure every time you pick up the guitar and play, allow you to express yourself or maybe it’s as simple as just learning a new skill.
Once you know why you want to play the guitar and what you’re going to get out of it you’ll be in a position to invest the time and effort required. You should want to spend the time willingly.
The next step before you even buy a guitar is to set the right mental attitude. Most people set themselves up to fail before they even start. I’ve discovered that “what the mind expects to happen tends to be realized” If you start with the idea that learning to play the guitar will be difficult, tedious, hard work, painful or just take to much time then guess what it probably will.
Instead focus on what it is you want, not what you don’t want.
Better affirmations are “I’ll enjoy learning to play the guitar” or “Practicing is fun because my playing is improving all the time”
The mind isn’t stupid so “I’ll learn to play like Jimmy Hendrix in 2 weeks” probably isn’t going to work your mind knows what is possible and what is sheer fantasy.
To recap before we even buy a guitar:-
- Decide why it is you want to learn to play the acoustic guitar. If you can’t come up with a desirable reason forget it and save yourself a lot of time and money.
- Imagine how you’ll feel when you can – feels good does it not?
- Remove negative programming by affirming what you want not what you don’t. Your mind is always listening and will give you what you want, good or bad.
- Get excited about learning – If you’re not excited how long do you think you’ll last?
Now your ready to begin. What you need now is a Guitar and a decent product to help you learn how to play as easily and in the shortest time possible.
